Sung Won Yun - Summer Residency 2015
Sung Won Yun is a New York based visual artist, whose continuous artistic experiment has been focused on representing fundamental questions of homogenization of cultural, ecological, and geological dynamics in the flow of time. Her art practice includes painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media.
She received her Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) / Tufts University in 2010. Before her graduate study at SMFA, she earned her Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts in painting, respectively, in 2000 and 2003 in Korea. She has had seven solo exhibitions in Korea, Japan, and the United States, and more than sixty group exhibitions internationally since 1999.
She was awarded the prestigious Traveling Scholarship from SMFA in 2012 and selected as one of two American Artist Fellows for the Terra Summer Residency program in Giverny, France by the Terra Foundation for American Art in 2010. She has won several awards including the first prize in Yousuf Karsh Prize in photography in 2010.
