Application & Deadlines

This program is open to either current high school sophomores or juniors spending the summer in the Greater NYC area. Students from outside NYC are welcome to apply. Admission to the program is selective. We are looking for talented, high-achieving students who are passionate about exploring STEM fields.

These characteristics should be apparent in their transcript, personal essay, and letter of recommendation from a teacher in the STEM fields or a guidance counselor.  Grades are not the only criteria for admission.  We are looking for hard-working, creative students for whom this program would be transformative in their educational careers.

All application materials (main application, essay, transcript, letter of recommendation, and non-refundable application fee) should be submitted though the online application.

If the application fee is prohibitive, please contact us to discuss a waiver before you submit your completed application (

A complete copy of your most current transcript must be submitted as part of your application.  This transcript must contain ALL courses and grades earned while in high school including the current or most recent term.

A scanned, official or unofficial copy of your transcript should be uploaded through the application website.

Letter of Recommendation
One letter of recommendation is required. You provide the name and email for your reference on the application.

Recommendations are uploaded online only.  An email is sent to your reference. Please confirm that they received the email recommendation letter request.

The essay is a portrait of you and should reflect what you feel is important for us to know about you. Tell us what interests you about engineering and design. Please do not submit any school work such as lab reports, homework assignments, etc.  If you have an online portfolio, webpage, or social media feed that you would like us to view, please provide a link to these in your essay.  Feel free to include photos, sketches, or any other graphical information you think would explain who you are to us. Limit your essay to 500 words.

Optional: If you have taken the PSAT, SAT, or ACT, you may include scanned copies of the reports sent to you by the respective testing agency.

Your application will be reviewed by the Program Admissions Committee.  You will be notified by email as to our decision.  We ask that you do not accept our offer unless you are certain you want to attend and are able to present for all six weeks.

See the Tuition and Financial Aid link for withdrawal penalties and tuition details.

All decisions are final.
