Cost of Attendance
The housing and cost of attendance budget guide is based on a nine-month undergraduate academic year with three housing options: living on-campus in the Cooper Student Residence Hall; off-campus, typically in the NYC area; or living with your family (usually described as a "commuter”). The guide is to provide a general idea of how your financial aid will differ depending on the housing option you choose. Every undergraduate student has individual circumstances and the examples below provide a general guide. As always, feel free to contact the Office of Financial Aid at financialaid@cooper.edu should you wish to discuss your situation.
College Financing Plan/Federal Shopping Sheet
Shopping Sheet is part of the College Financing Plan designed to simplify costs and financial aid information for prospective students and their families. It provides a tool to compare the net cost for each institution. Shopping Sheet Part 2 offers an estimated cost of attendance for Cooper students in years 2, 3, and 4.

Undergraduate Student Housing and Cost of Attendance Budget for 2021-2022
International Student fee per semester is $1,005 ($2,010 for one year).
*All students receive a half-tuition scholarship. Please visit here for eligibility and satisfactory academic policy.
Additional financial aid will be provided to the students with the greatest demonstrated need to help cover tuition, housing, food, books, supplies, etc. The amount of additional aid will be based upon demonstrated financial need. First-time students must complete the FAFSA to be considered for additional financial aid. In addition, The Cooper Union also offers merit scholarships to students who qualify.
**All off-campus students must submit a signed, official copy of their lease/sub lease. If sub leasing, please provide a notarized letter with a copy of the signed, official lease by the person whose name appears on the lease. All required documentation must be received by August 30th. Failure to meet this deadline will cause your financial aid application to default to a lower cost of attendance and your financial aid package may be adversely impacted as a result.
NOTE: Students without health insurance must add an estimated Health Service and Insurance Fee of $1,727 for the 2020-2021 academic year.
